As an avid gear-head, I have longed to combine my love for cars/motorcycles with fashion. Rarely does such an opportunity come around where I can have both on set, that is until I met Paul Langill. As the founder/director of Langill Management, Paul has years of production experience as an accomplished make-up artist and his agency boasts a great roster of hair stylists, make-up artists, and fashion stylists.
A few months ago Paul and I sat down at the studio to discuss some concepts for some upcoming fashion stories we wanted to do. Immediately after sharing our passions we started a brainstorming session by tossing around key words and figures like "British", "rugged", "cafe racer", "leather", "Marlon Brando", "The Wild One" movie, and so forth. It wasn't long before we came up with the storyline of a rogue biker and his gang to which we ended up calling the fashion editorial "Lucky Number (13)" - check out the helmet in the spread and you'll know why.
After postponing the shoot date twice due to Toronto's random rain days this summer, we finally got a break and the shoot was back on. With an early call time, the crew gathered at the Riverside BIA office and began preparing models before heading over to the industrial location. I won't get into the technical details of the shoot just yet, I'll leave that for a #HowIGotTheShot blog post - complete with a great BTS video!
The truth of the matter is, that like most great achievements in life - it takes a team to make it possible! This men's fashion photoshoot in HUF Magazine wouldn't have been possible without the tireless and creative efforts of Paul, David, Reed, Jeremy, Shaareen, Gelareh, Bram, and all the models. I am forever grateful for the support and opportunity to turn this simple concept into fruition - thank you.
